Boonah is a booming country town, approximately 85 km south-west of Brisbane, Ipswich and accessible via the Cunningham Highway.

Nearby Lake Moogerah (the Moogerah Dam) supplies water to Boonah, Ipswich, and the Swanbank Power Station as well as irrigation water to farms in the Fassifern Valley. It is popular for recreation, fishing and camping. It is approximately one hours drive from both Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
